Can we include the acknowledgment of country in our wedding ceremony? Written by Melbourne based wedding celebrant, Charis White

I often get asked if the acknowledgment of country can be included in my clients ceremony. The truth is we can have just about anything in your ceremony as long as we say the legal requirements.

I am a big fan of the acknowledgment of country, as it makes the ceremony so inclusive.

Here is an example of what can be said: “We would like to begin by acknowledging the Traditional Owners of the land on which we meet today. We would also like to pay our respects to Elders past and present.”
