Celebrant Melbourne | Charis White Celebrant | Real Wedding | Hannah and Richard | Fenix Events | Corey Wright Photographer

Hannah and Richard are a fabulous couple. They were delivered a massive blow just 8 weeks out from their wedding. The venue they originally booked, The Willows closed. I was in Thailand at the time and received the news from a friend. I immediately contacted them to see if they knew? Of course, they had not been told. Only a few weeks prior, The Willows asked them to pay the final instalment at a reduced rate. In the end they lost a lot of money, but they gained love, guidance and stronger friendships. All of their special people jumped into action to help. They essentially had to redo every single aspect if their wedding. New invitations, updated supplier information and then he list goes on. Not to mention a new venue. Fenix Events was available and so accommodating and they jumped at the opportunity to have their wedding there.

We started their ceremony like this: “I think we all need to take a moment to pause, cheer and reflect on what an amazing job Hannah and Richard have done to get to this moment. Only 8 weeks ago they were confronted with the news that their venue was closing. In 8 weeks, they have not only come together as a team, they virtually had to redo every aspect of their wedding.  As a result, their relationship is stronger than ever. I am honoured to be standing here today officiating the wedding of such a beautiful couple and I am sure you are honoured to be witnessing this event. So, with that said let’s give them a round of applause to set the tone for this exciting day.

Their love story began eight years ago on a European Contiki trip. By day three on the trip, Richard was trying to convince Hannah to stay out for drinks while they were in Berlin. Hannah politely declined even though the spark was definitely there.  A week or so later, on a night out in Florence, the beans were spilt that Richard “kinda liked Hannah.”  Their Contiki trip ended with a first kiss in Paris and a friend request on Facebook. They kept in touch over the years and would meet up whenever they were in each other’s home state.  Five years ago, Hannah had an opportunity to move to Melbourne for a fresh start and the rest is history.

I was so honoured to be a part if their day and the suppliers on the day shone bright with beautiful photos and videography as a lovely memory.
