A MODERN LOVE STORY

With their wedding taking place on the 19th of December, 2020 at Windmill Gardens, Tanya and Christian were so lucky to not have their wedding affected by Covid. In fact, they were the opposite, with numbers being lifted right before their wedding, their wedding of 20 people got increased to 60 of their nearest and dearest.

After meeting through mutual friends 13 years ago and two children later. Tanya and Christian have well and truly been through thick and thin together. Their love story was one of an immediate attraction, where Christian was taken by Tanya’s smile and Tanya taken by Christian’s kind face.

They have described their wedding as being the best day of their lives. With Tanya being escorted into the venue by two motor bikes, a tribute to her late brother.

They were attracted to the venue because of it’s beauty. They described the gardens as: gorgeous, in full bloom for their outdoor ceremony and the ballroom was simple and classy which is exactly the theme they were going for.

Tell us all about the proposal?
We were celebrating my 26th birthday at home with our family and friends. Everyone sung ‘Happy Birthday’ and after the candles were blown out, Christian said a speech (which he would never do) he then went down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I was elated and it was so special that we could share this with our nearest and dearest.

How did you choose what to wear?
My planning started on Pinterest 6 years ago! We decided to stick with the timeless look. Christian was in black and I wore a trumpet gown. This style of dress is something I have always wanted.

Did you write your own vows?
We grabbed a few words from all different vows online whilst trying to write our own. We then put them all together in the order and way we loved.

Did you include any special elements into your ceremony?
The ceremony was completely catered to us. We had both our kids walk down the aisle, our celebrant, Charis White, made a special mention about my late brother, she thanked my step-father and his impact on my life. We also had a special prayer included in the ceremony.

How did you choose your suppliers? Who were the stand out suppliers on the day?
Many suppliers we had were from word of mouth. Most our friends recommended. It made it all super easy to book everything in. I couldn’t give you a stand out. They were all amazing and couldn’t fault them!

What was an absolute stand out on your wedding day?
The arrival for sure! Tanya hired 2 Harley’s to escort the Mustang on the way to the ceremony. This was to represent her late brother who loved his motorbikes. The thunder that came from those bikes made everyone cry. Definitely a moment we won’t forget.

What advice would you offer to future brides?
Have a planner and note book. Write everything down and if you end up with 10 different checklists, the better it will be for you – you won’t forget anything!

What supplier did you book first and why?
The Cake Maker. Tanya uses her cake maker weekly for her photoshoots so it was the easiest and quickest thing to book.

Is there anything you would change about your wedding day?
The only thing would have to be extending the time at the reception. The time flew!

What was the most stressful part of the wedding planning process?
Sticking to the budget was by far the hardest thing to do.

Did you both equally plan the wedding together or did one person have more input?
Tanya had more input but Christian helped make the final decisions on everything. It was an equal partnership for sure.

Did you have to plan your wedding multiple times?
Luckily no, only once with only 6 weeks to plan. It was a last minute thing and had everything booked within a week!

What are your hopes for your married life?
To go through life full of love, honesty and respect with our kids by our side.
