Celebrant Melbourne | Charis White | Sara and Lee | Same-sex Wedding | Hellenic Republic

Sara and Lee are two beautiful souls.

They had a big glorious commitment ceremony in Sydney four years ago. In their eyes, this was their wedding. However, Sara’s family wanted them to get married for legal reasons. As a result, they embarked on an elaborate plan which involved a going away dinner.

Lee has to move overseas for her job and this was a great excuse to get all their family together for a going away dinner. So the plan was made. Hellenic republic was the chosen restaurant and Lee and Sara decided to do a few DIY table decorations, which looked amazing.

They hired me a few months prior and we chatted about the type of ceremony they wanted. It was going to be their beautiful story told in an intimate setting.

The night of the wedding a few of us huddled inside the private room and the family Sara’s  grandmother were escorted upstairs. As they opened the door, we were all standing there and a look of surprise came over their face. What a delight.

We held the ceremony, there was laughter and tears. We then signed the paperwork and they celebrated into the night with delicious food and wine!
